This purpose of this session is to provide fellows (and any faculty) with the tools necessary to teach successfully. The 6-steps of curriculum development provide a framework for designing a large curriculum, as well as the context for teaching individual sessions to a variety of learners. This session is intended for small groups of under 20 participants.

Session Length: 60 minutes

Prerequisite(s): This session is intended for learners who already teach in some capacity.

Learning Objectives

  • Discuss participants’ relationship with and beliefs about teaching
  • Reflect on simultaneous processes that occur in the teaching and learning interaction.
  • Define Thomas et al’s (2016) six-step approach for curriculum development in medical education.
  • Practice developing goals and objectives for individual instruction needs.
