This session will be the first in a series of 4 focusing on leadership skills for resident physicians. Resident physicians, particularly as they transition into seniors and beyond, need to lead various work/multi-disciplinary teams. Residents/physicians are often not taught how to be an effective leader. Leadership skills are teachable and can be improved with deliberate practice.
The sessions will encompass the following topics:
Introduction to Leadership/Leadership Styles
Emotional Intelligence/Core Values
Communication and Conflict Management
Team Building and Leading Change
Session Length: 50-55 minutes

Learning Objectives
Explain rationale for residents to gain leadership skills
List characteristics of effective leaders
Identify leadership skills and those which can be improved
Describe different leadership styles
Identify opportunities to incorporate skills learned into practice
