Search Alerts

This guide will help you set up alerts so you can be notified what's in new issues of journals you are interested in following or what's new in a specific database on the subject you are researching.

Web of Science Alerts

Covers Science Citation Index Expanded, Social Sciences Citation Index, and Art & Humanities Citation Index. Automatic running of a search strategy is available for this database if your search is saved on their server. Users also have another option to save their searches on a local drive, or saved as an RSS feed.

Step by Step:

1. Navigate to Web of Science

2. Sign in, using the link at the top of the page (register for a Web of Science account if you don't have one)

3. Perform a search on your desired keywords and/or author

4. From the results page, click on the title of the article of interest to go to the full record page.

5. From the record page, click on the Create Citation Alert button in the right-hand column.

6. A popup window will appear, allowing you to set the email address for the alert and the email format:

7. To modify or delete an alert, click on the My Tools link at the top of the page, then choose Saved Searches & Alerts.

8. Each alert you have created will have the option to renew, delete, and/or change options such as the email address and format for the alert.
