OhioLINK's IOP Upgrade has two main benefits:
- It increases access to Institute of Physics journals for libraries statewide, adding 22 new IOP journals to OhioLINK's EJC existing package of 50 journals in physics, materials science, biosciences, astronomy and astrophysics, environmental sciences, and mathematics
- Authors from participating OhioLINK institutions can publish open-access research in all eligible IOP journals, both fully open access and hybrid open access journals, without any cap and at no cost to the author and at no additional cost to any institution. Most of IOP's journals offer either fully gold OA or hybrid OA publishing options; see the title list for details.
Access to the collection and publishing benefits will begin for all institutions that participate in the Electronic Journal Center (EJC) on January 1, 2023 and continue through December 31, 2025.
The corresponding author should identify their institutional affiliation with an OhioLINK member institution at the time that they submit their article to a journal for publication. Under this agreement with IOP, eligible articles will be published as open access by default. Articles published as open access under this agreement will use a CC-BY 4.0 license. Authors that have their articles accepted with an eligible journal published by IOP will be given the option to opt-out of open access publishing. If the corresponding author chooses to not publish their article as open access, their article would be published under a subscription model behind a paywall.
