A directory of permissible use image resources for NEOMED faculty, staff, and students

About this Guide

This guide is an image directory and image sites are arranged under four categories: General, Basic Sciences, Clinical Sciences, and Pharmacy.

For each resource, the library has included information to assist the user. This information includes a general summary about the site, a copyright summary, searching and/ or downloading tips, and a suggested citation.

It is the ultimate responsibity of the user to ensure that he or she is using images from the resources properly and in adherence to the site's terms of use. This means that users should check the sites' terms of use or copyright notices to ensure that uses are allowed.

Using Images in Lectures

All images posted on the course management system should:

  • be in the public domain; OR
  • be permissible for educational use; OR
  • be your own image; OR
  • be from a resource licensed by the library for image use
  • AND
  • be cited, and include URL and date accessed if not your image.

If you're uncertain about whether or not your images qualify, contact the library!

The library will:

  • provide citations for permissible use images
  • locate alternative permissible images for use in course lectures
  • provide assistance with permissions for images in publications

Reminder When Using Images

Users are ultimately responsible for verifying that images used are copyright compliant. Users should verify the copyright status of images before reproduction. Please contact the library with any questions about the permissible use of images.
