How to Save Search Alerts from NCBI

MyNCBI allows users to save searches, and receive updates via email or RSS when new articles meeting the earch criteria are published.

Why save searches?

  • An ongoing research project. Saving your search allows you to only view the new results, or to view all together over a period of time.
  • Quickly see what's new in your field by surveying Medline journals!

How to create a saved search in PubMed:

  1. Create your search.
  2. Click on "Create Alert", under the search box.
  3. Name your search; select "yes" to receive email updates of new search results.
  4. Select the maximum number of citations you want to receive, how frequently you want PubMed to run your search, etc. These can be changed at any time.
  5. Click "Save"

You will begin to receive emails with links to new citations that match your search criteria.
